In the village of Megendi, midwifery is changing. With it, the question of women's self-determination. Between tradition and modernity, patriarchal structures, and the complex power of female companionship, the mother Hulu, as well as the midwives Endal, Weläla, and Sirkalem struggle with their relationship to themselves, to each other, and to all those who want to decide for them.
